Zinc Citrate

Zinc is an essential trace element that the body can neither synthesise nor store in sufficient quantities, meaning it must be supplied daily through the diet. Found in oysters, red meat, legumes and seeds, it is involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions and contributes to vital functions, including normal macronutrient metabolism, protein synthesis and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Its antioxidant properties and role in supporting immune function are well documented. Zinc also contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, supports wound healing and helps regulate sebum production, making it a recognised ally for blemish-prone skin. Zinc citrate is a chelated form in which zinc is bound to citric acid, an organic acid naturally present in citrus fruits. This combination improves the mineral's solubility and bioavailability compared with inorganic forms such as zinc oxide, making it one of the most suitable forms for supplementation.
