Indian Rose powder (Tagetes Erecta.L)

Indian Marigold powder is obtained from the dried and ground flowers of Tagetes erecta L., an annual plant native to Mexico and Central America, now widely cultivated across South Asia, particularly in India. Its bright yellow-orange flower heads are exceptionally rich in carotenoids, notably lutein and zeaxanthin, two natural pigments extensively studied for their role in eye health. Lutein and zeaxanthin contribute to protecting retinal cells against oxidative stress induced by blue light and UV radiation. These carotenoids accumulate in the macula, where they form the macular pigment, and are associated with the maintenance of normal vision. The plant also contains flavonoids and phenolic compounds that contribute to its overall antioxidant properties. Since the body cannot synthesise these carotenoids endogenously, their intake relies entirely on diet or supplementation. As lutein and zeaxanthin intake is often insufficient in Western diets, Indian Marigold powder represents a natural, concentrated source of interest to help meet daily requirements.
