Linseed oil

Flaxseed oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of Linum usitatissimum, a herbaceous plant cultivated since antiquity. It stands out for its exceptionally high content of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential short-chain omega-3 fatty acid that the body cannot synthesise on its own and must therefore obtain through diet. ALA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels and supports cardiovascular health. Once ingested, it can be partially converted by the body into long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), although this conversion rate remains limited. Flaxseed oil also contains lignans and omega-6 fatty acids, making it a particularly valuable lipid source from a nutritional standpoint. Flaxseed oil supplementation is a relevant option for those looking to increase their plant-based omega-3 intake, particularly within a vegetarian or vegan diet. In capsule form, it helps preserve the oil's oxidation-sensitive fatty acids and makes daily consumption more convenient.
