Chia oil
Chia oil is a vegetable oil cold-pressed from the seeds of Salvia hispanica, a plant native to Central America and Mexico whose Mayan name means "strength." Cultivated for thousands of years by Mesoamerican peoples, it is now recognised for the exceptional richness of its nutritional profile. It stands out for its very high content of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid that contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels. It also provides omega-6 fatty acids, vitamin E with antioxidant properties, and various micronutrients that help protect cells against oxidative stress. Chia oil supplementation is of particular interest for those looking to diversify their essential fatty acid intake, especially when the diet is low in oily fish. Its concentrated oil form makes it easy to achieve a regular, precise daily intake of plant-derived omega-3s.
