Natural tocopherols

Natural tocopherols refer to vitamin E as it occurs in nature, primarily in the form of alpha-tocopherol. They are extracted from lipid-rich vegetable oils such as rapeseed, sunflower, or soybean oil through distillation or concentration processes. This natural form is distinct from synthetic vitamin E, which is chemically produced and has a different molecular structure. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble nutrient well recognised for its antioxidant properties. It contributes to protecting cells against oxidative stress, a phenomenon involved in cellular ageing and various physiological imbalances. Studies show that the natural form of tocopherols is retained and used more efficiently by tissues than its synthetic counterpart, with an estimated bioavailability approximately twice as high. A varied diet can cover vitamin E requirements, but certain profiles — diets low in vegetable fats, or increased needs related to lifestyle or age — may benefit from supplementation. Choosing naturally sourced tocopherols offers the advantage of a form that is better assimilated by the body.
