Vegetable oil
Hydrogenated vegetable oil is a plant-derived oil — primarily from coconut and/or sunflower — processed through a chemical hydrogenation method that solidifies or semi-solidifies the fat at room temperature. This treatment modifies the structure of unsaturated fatty acids to achieve a stable, homogeneous texture. In dietary supplements, hydrogenated vegetable oil is not used for its nutritional effects but as a functional excipient. It contributes to the cohesion and mechanical strength of tablets, facilitates the manufacture of capsules, and improves the long-term stability of formulations. Its plant-based origin makes it a suitable alternative to animal-derived excipients, making it compatible with vegan and vegetarian formulations. The amounts present in a dietary supplement are very small and serve an exclusively technological purpose.
