Milk
Milk is a nutritious liquid of animal origin, produced mainly by cows but also by other mammals such as goats and sheep. It is one of the most complete food sources, combining high-quality proteins, lipids, carbohydrates (lactose), and a broad range of micronutrients. Rich in calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin B2, milk contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. It also provides proteins that support muscle growth and maintenance, as well as B vitamins involved in energy metabolism. In the context of supplementation, milk and its derivatives (whey, casein, milk powder) are used as protein bases or micronutrient carriers. They are particularly suited to individuals whose dietary intake of calcium or protein is insufficient, though they are not recommended for people who are lactose intolerant or allergic to cow's milk proteins.
