Iron Pyrophosphate
Iron pyrophosphate is a mineral salt obtained by condensing two phosphate molecules under the effect of heat. This reaction forms a characteristic pyrophosphate bond, giving the molecule a stable structure. It contains approximately 25% elemental iron, making it a concentrated source of this essential mineral. Iron contributes to normal energy metabolism, the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, and the normal transport of oxygen throughout the body. It also supports the normal functioning of the immune system and helps reduce fatigue. Iron pyrophosphate is generally well tolerated from a digestive standpoint compared to certain other forms of iron. For this reason, it is frequently used in supplementation, particularly among individuals whose dietary iron intake is insufficient to meet their daily requirements.
