Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a natural polyphenol synthesised by certain plants in response to external stressors such as fungal infections or UV radiation. It is found in notable concentrations in the skin of dark grapes, berries, mulberries, and Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum), which is one of the main sources used in supplementation. This compound is well recognised for its powerful antioxidant properties: it contributes to neutralising free radicals and reducing oxidative stress at the cellular level. Research also focuses on its potential role in supporting cardiovascular function, regulating inflammation, and activating certain proteins involved in cellular longevity (sirtuins). The resveratrol content in common foods remains low and variable depending on growing and processing conditions. A standardised supplement allows for more consistent and better-dosed intakes than those obtained through diet alone, making it a relevant option for individuals seeking to benefit from its properties on a regular basis.
